Anissa Raja is the President of the Los Angeles County Young Democrats and has led the organization towards building a stronger financial strategy, expanding membership engagement, and advancing progressive causes across the region.
As a dedicated advocate for CYD’s growth, Anissa has played a pivotal role in helping CYD achieve its best fundraising year since its establishment. She is committed to building on this momentum and pushing CYD to achieve its best fundraising year yet again, ensuring that young voices are heard loud and clear—fighting for progress, justice, and a Democratic Party that fully reflects the values we hold dear.

Hi, I’m Jeanie (she/they) and I am your Orange County Regional Director! Professionally, I have been the Organizing Director for 2 Congressional campaigns and am now a Campaign Manager for a State Assembly race. My start with Young Dems was as President of the College Democrats at UC Irvine. I then served as the Orange County Young Democrats Chair for 2 years and have been serving as Regional Director for the past 3! This means I know all things to start (or restart), build, and maintain chapters, and I am happy to help and provide resources where I can!

Gabriel Alfaro
Home Chapter: San Bernardino County Young Democrats
Gabriel Alfaro is a press operator for URSA Local Printing and a proud member of USW Local 675, where he serves as an executive board member and union representative for his shop. He got involved in young democrats as Communications Director for the CYD Latine Caucus, where he now serves as Vice Chair. Gabriel has served as President of SBCYD since his election in January 2025 and as Regional Director for SB County. Before becoming a press operator, he worked as a political consultant for 8 years and has run over 25 campaigns ranging from School Board to State Legislative races.

My name is Malik Thornton. I currently serve as South State Regional Director (San Diego & Imperial Counties) and have five years of experience in campaigns and leadership across the San Diego County Democratic Party and Young Democrats. I’m also Director of Community Engagement for the City of San Diego. I got into politics because of my lived experiences navigating our broken systems—healthcare, housing, and low-wage, high-demand jobs. I know young people aren’t the future, we’re the present, and I’m ready to work with Young Democrats in my region and across the state to build the future we all deserve.
